Die Cut Line using Artificial Intelligence

So the basic idea is pretty simple, I want to be able to take a logo image and automatically create a die cut sticker line around the logo.
I own a small printing shop and I figured this would be a fun project to both learn about image manipulation via artificial intelligence and a useful tool for founders to make labels or stickers of their logo that are fun and can be handed out as schwag. The typical process of adding a die cut line is redundant and laborious, the perfect type job for automation.
Project Specs
The basic steps of this process, as I understand it would be:
- Upload image
- Take "main" logo apart from backround
- Determine outer boundries of logo
- Add die cut line around outer boundries
